Business Intelligence (BI) Developer

As an integral member of our Supply Chain Integrated Planning team, the Business Intelligence (BI) Application Developer is responsible for the design, development, implementation and support of critically important enterprise Business Intelligence (BI) solutions. Working with multi-functional teams, you will participate to gather and document reporting requirements to meet business needs. You will then transform those needs into technical specifications in order to design, develop, test, and implement BI and analytic solutions that turn data into knowledge.

In this mid-level role, you should have at least 5 years of experience in data science, business analysis, and software development. You should have a proven track record of designing and coding functional programs and applications. You should be analytical and an excellent communicator. If you also have an intuition for business, problem-solving proficiency, and the ability to handle large scale projects end-to-end, we’d like to meet you.

Location: This is an onsite role based out of Newport News, VA, in accordance with the Ferguson Flex schedule; 3 days in office / 2 days remote.

Responsibilities:Gather user requirements and translate business needs to technical specificationsDesign, build and deploy BI solutions as they relate to SQL development projectsIdentify problems, analyze data, and develop solutionsStructure and organize data for effective analysis and reportingFamiliarity with Power Query for data transformation, cleaning, and merging data from various sourcesCreate effective and informative visualizations, dashboards, and reportsInteract and extract data from Data Warehouse using SQL and Azure Data FactoryCreate and maintain ETL processes for moving and transforming dataAutomating processes via scripts, e.g. PowerShell, PythonPerforming regression analysis using RUse machine learning techniques and algorithms to build predictive models and extract insights from that dataCommunicate findings and insights clearly and effectively to all levels in the organization (both technical and non-technical users)Translate high level requirements into interaction flowsDefine, develop, optimize, manipulate, and complete complex SQL database queriesConduct analyses from diverse data setsDevelop and update technical documentationAct as domain expert in all areas of SQL report development and data integrationProvide support as required to ensure the availability and performance of developed processes, reports, and dashboards for both external and internal usersPilot and provide proof-of-concept solutions around next-generation business intelligence and analytics toolsCreate, modify, read and understand stored proceduresDesign and implement technology best practices, guidelines and repeatable processes

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:Proven experience as a business intelligence developerProven UI experienceExcellent communicator with strong written and verbal communication, including technical writing skillsSolid understanding of database conceptsExperience with BI technologies (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Oracle BI, SSRS, Power Apps, Power Automate) preferredCreative, flexible, and quick to learnProven abilities to take initiative and be innovativeProven track record of success including understanding project requirements and delivering on themAnalytical mind with a problem-solving proficiencyBA in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related fieldExperience in Data Modeling preferredDesired interest in machine learningAdept at SQL programming using Oracle, Microsoft SQL-Server T-SQL, SSIS and SSRS 2012+Solid understanding of Azure cloud infrastructure, and Azure SAAS (software as a service).In depth knowledge of the following technical tools: SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Integrated Services, and Power Apps.Experience in MS ExcelDesire to learn a vast array of on-premises and cloud technologiesCuriosity to investigate sources of data and ability to match that data to its related business functionSolid attention to detail and high-quality workGreat teammate who is also able to work well independentlyAble to work under stress, meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously

$6,000.30 - $9,716.30

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.

This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
