Job Description

Responsible for driving the development of new business opportunities in asset management.

Key Performance Areas:

Business Development

Participate in formulating the business strategyDevelop and deliver business plan targets on alternative investments, unit trust and investment mandatesDevelopment of credible pipelineLeading the Asset Management teamIdentifying, evaluating, and structuring key transactions to ensure continued financial health and maximum value creation through the investment cycle.

Customer Needs Clarification

Consult with a range of customer representatives at different levels to identify the outcomes they require, introducing relevant internal specialists and utilizing their expertise to gather and analyse complex customer data, clarify medium- to long-term customer needs, and develop and agree to a specification of customer requirements.

Customer Relationship Development / Prospecting

Build relationships and networks with stakeholders to maximise lead identification and knowledge of market trends and best practicesDevelop and implement a relationship management plan for strategic, complex potential accounts to build key relationships at local and national levelsCoordinate the engagement of own organization with the customer organization to ensure effective two-way flow of information and resolution of issues.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Data

Managing key stakeholdersEnsure that an internal function and/or a cross-functional customer account team maintains high-quality customer informationMonitor and review information quality to ensure that it is fit for purposeProvide user input to the development or improvement of the CRM system to ensure that it meets immediate and longer-term business needs

Sell Customer Propositions

Lead a cross-functional internal team (e.g., technical, commercial, and legal) to configure a complex tailored or bespoke product-and-services solution and associated contractual terms that meet the customer's mid- to long-term needs at a national/key operating-unit levelNegotiate agreement with the customer and internally with commercial colleagues to ensure that customer requirements are met at an acceptable level of profitability and cash flow, or, alternately, review and authorize complex sales proposals from team members that deviate from standard terms, escalating issues to senior management where appropriate.

Customer Relationship Management / Account Management

Develop and implement a relationship management plan for strategic, complex existing accounts to build key relationships at local and national levelsCoordinate the engagement of own organization with the customer organization to ensure effective two-way flow of information and resolution of issuesManage key client and customer relationships, often through account teams, to ensure their ongoing satisfaction and loyalty.

Operational Compliance

Ensure that business activities within area of responsibility comply with relevant external regulatory and/or voluntary codes and with internal policies and procedures to minimize business risk and to protect the reputation of the organization.

Reporting

Preparing various reports such as Line of Business reporting, board reports and investor performance reports

Personal Capability Building

Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfil personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

Qualifications and experience required:

A relevant graduate qualification in business, finance, actuarial or statistics from a reputable tertiary institution is mandatory.Relevant financial services industry qualifications and certification will be an added advantageSolid experience in the financial services industry is mandatoryA demonstrable record of achievement in identifying sales opportunities, client needs assessment and use of sales software
