Business Development Manager

Overview

This field-based Business Development Manager role focuses on managing relationships and driving sales growth for a leading technology brand across a defined customer base. Success in this role is achieved through promoting the brand’s products, services, and value proposition in collaboration with internal sales teams and business unit leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and grow business opportunities within an existing customer base. Identify and engage new customers, aiming to expand market reach and increase customer breadth. Build and maintain professional relationships with key decision-makers to ensure long-term satisfaction and preference for the organisation as a preferred supplier. Deliver internal and external training and development activities. Manage the full sales cycle from initial engagement to order fulfilment (when required). Plan and support promotional initiatives and participate in relevant exhibitions and events. Foster strong partnerships with the brand and align stakeholder efforts to deliver a unified customer experience. Collaborate with internal departments (finance, operations, customer service, supply chain, sales management) to achieve business goals within customer parameters. Conduct regular business reviews with customers, vendor representatives, and internal teams to monitor performance, resolve issues, and plan strategic actions. Provide clear and actionable meeting reports and follow-ups. Present at quarterly business reviews when needed. Use internal systems for performance tracking and reporting, and communicate insights clearly to various stakeholders.

Essential Requirements

Proven ability to meet or exceed targets related to gross profit, revenue, and margin. Strong communication skills, including effective listening and rapport building across diverse audiences. Confident sales skills, capable of engaging with individuals across multiple levels of seniority. Proficient in delivering presentations and using tools like PowerPoint. IT literate and adaptable to new systems. Effective planning and prioritisation skills. Comfortable operating at senior customer levels to identify and maximise opportunities.

Ideal Requirements

Previous experience in an external, customer-facing role. Experience in developing business plans that align customer, company, and vendor goals. Strategic thinker with demonstrated strategic execution. Ability to coordinate across multiple internal departments and support functions.
