Business Development Manager | Defence

UGL has a strategic partnership with the Department of Defence across the Defence Fuels Network for Fuels Management, Asset Management, Operations and Maintenance. An opportunity now exists to join our business in what is an exciting and unique opportunity to work in Australia’s Defence environment and support national security requirements of the Nation.

The Opportunity

The role will be responsible for pioneering business development activity and initiatives to achieve business growth. Defence has broad market contact with multiple interface points and a close relationship with the customer are required. This role will primarily focus on successfully winning and growing the Estate Works Program in Defence.

Key responsibilities:

Develop and execute business development activities associated with the estate works and other Defence infrastructure programs.Liaise and oversee bid teams to ensure deadlines are met and opportunities progressed to submission with strong probability of success, both in terms of winning and executing the programPrepare business professionals and support contract negotiations for allocated key captures when down-selected and ensure that all attributes of the program’s development are handed over for executionBuild a well-defined and qualified pipeline of opportunities aligned with the 2025 Defence strategyManage opportunities from initial identification, strategy development and pursuit management through to tender preparation and contract negotiation. Conduct ongoing competitor and market analysis, ensuring awareness of any changes that may impact successful achievement of Defence Strategy and Business development objectives.Development of marketing strategies and prepare and provide budgets, reports, forecasts and related information required.

Business Development or Operational experience, in Defence or Defence related fieldDegree or Diploma in an engineering or related Marketing/Management disciplineHighly developed communication skills, strong negotiation and influencing skills and ability to establish effective relationships at different levels internally and externally.Excellent people management and interpersonal skillsStrong systems, operational, financial, resource planning and reporting skillsMust be an Australian Citizen for Defence Clearance purposes
