Business Development & Grants Portfolio Lead

We are looking for a Business Development & Grants Portfolio Lead, who will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic growth and sustainability of IRC Hellas programming. As the lead for both Business Development and Grants Management, you will ensure IRC Greece secures and manages funding that supports life-changing programs for people affected by conflict, disaster, and displacement.
In close collaboration with all departments within IRC Greece, as well as with the regional Resources Acquisition and Management (RAM) team and relevant HQ stakeholders, you will shape funding strategies, cultivate donor relationships, and ensure seamless lifecycle management of grants—from initial opportunity tracking to proposal submission, compliance, and close-out.
This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, relationship management, and operational excellence. You will be responsible for ensuring IRC Hellas remains competitive in securing funding, complies with donor requirements, and delivers timely, high-quality reports and proposals. Major Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
Business Development & Proposal Management
• Lead IRC Hellas’s business development efforts, aligning funding strategies with the Country Strategy Action Plan.
• Coordinate the full proposal development cycle, including calendar management, internal coordination, narrative drafting, and compliance review with IRC regional and HQ teams.
• Serve as the focal point for new funding opportunities, working closely with program and operations teams to design innovative, needs-based proposals.
• Ensure high-quality submissions that reflect both donor requirements and the IRC’s strategic goals.
Grants Management & Compliance
• Lead the grants unit to ensure timely, accurate donor reporting and full compliance with IRC and donor regulations.
• Monitor grant performance and proactively flag any risks or issues related to spending, compliance, or reporting.
• Maintain rigorous grants management systems, documentation, and internal communications via IRC tools (e.g., OTIS).
• Support project start-up and closeout processes and ensure partner capacity building is embedded across all awards.
Strategic Fundraising & Donor Engagement
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with key donors (e.g., EU institutions, UN agencies, and others), both nationally and regionally.
• In partnership with the Country Director, lead the design and implementation of a Strategic Business Development Plan to ensure sustainable, scaled funding.
• Identify and respond to funding gaps and sectoral priorities, driving visibility and strategic positioning of IRC Greece.
Team Leadership & Capacity Building
• Coach and mentor staff within the grants unit and wider program team on donor compliance, proposal writing, and reporting.
• Lead structured performance management, regular one-on-ones, and development plans for direct reports.
• Promote a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture, ensuring staff well-being and work-life balance.
• Deliver regular training sessions to strengthen cross-functional understanding of grants and business development.


Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree with significant grants management experience and superior writing skills. 
Work Experience:  Minimum 5 years of experience in international grants and business development, ideally in humanitarian or development sectors.
  Demonstrated success in securing and managing funding from EU donors (e.g., DG HOME, DG JUST, Erasmus+), UN agencies (UNHCR, IOM, UNICEF), and others.
Experience working with sub-grantees and building partner capacity.

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:
•  Exceptional writing skills, with a proven ability to lead successful proposal development processes.
•  Deep understanding of donor compliance requirements and award management cycles.
•  Strategic thinker with strong leadership, planning, and communication skills.
•  Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
•  High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor/grant management platforms (e.g., SharePoint, OTIS).

Languages
• Fluency in both Greek and English (spoken and written) is required.

Working Environment:
