What is the Institutional Business Development Associate responsible for?

You will be part of the UK sales function, specifically a member of the Sales Support and Business Development team, providing efficient and effective presales support, and relationship management to our clients and prospective clients in the UK Institutional channel.  You’ll work closely with the Institutional Client Directors, Head of Sales Support and other members of the sales support and business development team responding to sales, product, operational and business administration enquiries from professional institutional investors. You will also be expected, in time, to take on clients of your own and develop relationships, proactively over the phone, email or face to face. You will also be expected to lead or partake in departmental projects and to support our wholesale clients from time to time.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of the Institutional Business Development Associate?

Core Responsibilities

Provide pre-sales support and relationship management to UK institutional clients.

Generate and customise sales pitch materials using Seismic, SharePoint, and product teams.

Support the production of pitchbooks, sales decks, and client-facing presentations.

Assist with prospect meeting follow-ups and develop early-stage leads into pipeline opportunities.

Research new prospects in emerging areas such as insurance and defined contribution.

Co-ordinate materials for Portfolio Manager meetings, due diligence, finals presentations, and client reviews.

Maintain client data in Microsoft Dynamics and ensure mailing lists are up to date.

Strategic Responsibilities

Ensure opportunities pipeline is updated and accurately reflects sales progress.

Develop and maintain Growth Action Plans and account plans for key clients.

Monitor client news and reports, updating engagement strategies accordingly.

Anticipate and respond to client strategy performance questions with internal partners.

Support the team with Request for Proposals and pitch processes.

Manage RFP projects, liaising with stakeholders across the business.

Support drafting and reviewing RFPs, ensuring timely delivery to clients.

Teams & Collaboration

Work closely with Institutional Client Directors and Head of Sales Support.

Collaborate with sales support, sales, marketing, product, and portfolio management teams.

Participate in departmental projects and support wholesale clients as needed.

Lead or support internal events with Client Directors and Marketing.

Co-ordinate ad-hoc events, webinars, and external conferences.

Ensure effective follow-up and administration for all events and meetings.

Join bi-weekly or monthly account reviews with Client Directors.

What ideal qualifications and experience would help someone to be successful?

University degree preferred but not required.

IMC required - support provided to gain qualification.

Excellent research and analysis skills.

Ability to communicate and interact well with all levels, both internally and externally

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Customer service focus with an ability to be flexible with client needs dictating required focus.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Ability to make independent decisions, with little supervision whilst working with integrity and focusing on delivering quality results.
