Business Clerk

Ward C3 is an active inpatient unit that offers acute care services to both oncology (solid tumor malignancies) and GI patients. The unit is comprised of diverse services including: surgical, medical and radiation oncology. The goal of oncological therapy is cure, symptom management and pain control or palliation. GI patients often are admitted for a flare related to a chronic disease (Crohn’s, Ulcerative Colitis) and may require medical or surgical intervention.

As a member of the health care team, the Business Clerk provides clerical, administrative or business support to patients, families and those providing service and/or care. Functions according to the job description for Business Clerks.

1. Grade 12 or equivalent
2. Graduate of community college secretarial or office administration program or equivalent office experience.
3. Medical Terminology Certificate 1 and 2
4. Knowledge and experience in order transcription.
5. Keyboarding 40 wpm
6. Knowledge and skill in using a computer.
7. Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, public relations and problem-solving skills.
8. Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly.
9. Ability to deal with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively.
10. Ability to appreciate the confidential nature of the position.
11. Ability to sit for long periods, repetitive reaching, repetitive bending.
