The Central Intake and Assessment Centre (CIAC) is an innovative, upstream, shared-care model of care in which patients receive rapid low back pain assessment, education and evidence-based self-management plans. It is designed to decrease the prevalence of unmanageable chronic low back pain, reduce unnecessary diagnostic imaging as well as unnecessary specialist referral. The inter-professional health team assesses the patient and assists in determining the best personalized treatment plan which may include conservative management and/or surgery if needed. The inter-professional team includes Business Clerks, Physicians, and Advance Practice Providers.

As a member of the interprofessional team, the Business Clerk provides clerical, administrative business support to the MSK Low Back Pain Program patients, families and those providing service and/or care. The Business Clerk is responsible for centralized booking of appointments for CIAC Services, Fracture Clinic and Diagnostic Services. The Business clerk is directly accountable to the Clinical Manager of CIAC and Fracture Clinics.
