An opportunity exists for a highly motivated individual to become the Business Center Operations Leader (BCOL) for our Energy & Resources (Power Delivery) Business Center (BC) in Western Canada. The Business Center Operations Leader (BCOL) has the primary responsibility for the financial business performance of the BC operations. As a partner to the BC Practice Leaders (BCPLs), this role works jointly to form the BC leadership team to provide people leadership across business functions and interactions. The BCOL provides support to the Regional Business Leader and routinely engages with other BC Leaders and supervisors regarding business and operational aspects of the BC including project financial performance and delivery, engagement, and team development. The BCOL, in conjunction with the leadership team, implements effective business strategies and supports the BC to deliver on targeted objectives. The BCOL is expected to develop and maintain productive relationships with clients, review client commercial agreements and actively participate in project pursuits and delivery. **Primary Focus Areas:** **Business Performance** : + Provide a business environment that supports achieving performance targets for net revenue, project margin, labor margin, and contribution margin. + Maintain accurate forecasting including net revenue forecasts and resource planning. + Support development of the annual business plan through budget development, identifying resourcing needs, and recommending growth targets and business performance goals. + Interface with functional managers and project managers to achieve utilization targets, while supporting the necessary business investments related to staff training and development as well as marketing and business development. **Project Management and Delivery** : + Create a culture of accountability toward effective project and risk management, efficient use of resources, and achievement of project performance goals. + Review, guide, and engage in continuous improvement initiatives relating to project governance and delivery. + Partner with senior level Project Managers to train, mentor, and guide Project Managers on best practices. + Track and analyze project revenue recognition and leakage, proactively take steps to ensure best practices for project and financial management are followed. **Staff Development, Retention, and Engagement** : + Oversee and promote training and development opportunities, coordinate recruitment and engagement activities, and continuous leadership development. + Ensure compliance with Stantec's policies, practices, and procedures by all staff within the BC. + Promote and encourage high-performing teams that effectively collaborate across BCs, offices, and global delivery centers. + Partner with human resources to ensure completion of annual performance cycle activities including year-end reviews, compensation reviews, goal setting, and bonus recommendations for the BC. **Reporting and Utilization** + The BCOL reports to the Regional Business Leader and has a project utilization target ranging from 20% to 30%. **Your Capabilities and Credentials** + Strong business acumen with ability to identify, develop and map strategy, prepare, interpret and manage financial data, and analyze business results based on a deep understanding of the energy industry. + Entrepreneurial orientation with understanding of the business challenges of a consulting services provider. + Strong operational and financial management skills with a minimum of 15 years’ project or business-related management. + Demonstrated ability to champion both technical and customer service excellence with conviction and purpose. + Proven project management and technical skills applicable to the delivery of Power and Energy projects. + Understanding of the electrical utility environments in Western and Northern Canada, preferably with direct experience collaborating with electrical utilities. + Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet multiple and varied deadlines. + Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills. + Possess the highest degree of integrity. **Education and Experience** + Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 15 years’ related work, leadership, financial management and consulting experience. A Professional Engineer designation is seen as an advantage for the role. + Prior experience providing outstanding client management to electrical utilities is required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
