Role Description
Working within our Design & Engineering teams, you'll create some of the world’s most iconic and ground-breaking structures and spaces that transform the world around us, from making journeys easier to opening up public places that bring people together.

Role Accountabilities
Provide senior leadership within the GEC Energy Transition team by building and strengthening relationships across Arcadis and with our clients. Take ownership of the team’s development, growth, and capabilities, while ensuring high quality and supporting the efficient delivery of projects. Be a contributor to the positioning of the Arcadis brand in the market as a capable and innovative technical consultancy. Undertake (as required) Project Director Role roles to lead the delivery of major projects. Support the management of risk on major projects. Lead by example to promote continual improvement in H&S performance across the business, including ‘safe by design’ initiatives and any specific personal targets. Build internal relationships to identify and realise business opportunities across all Energy Transition Service Lines Drive a Quality Assurance ‘right first time’ mindset coupled with increasing efficiency as competence grows to ensure that client expectations and Arcadis’ commercial objectives are met or exceeded. Evaluate technical competence of team members, supporting our people to realise their potential, identifying and providing specific training and mentoring needs. Working closely with the Regional and GEC Directors, supporting the recruitment and development of engineering teams, setting objectives and managing performance, to ensure that the team has the resources and capability to achieve desired outcomes. Drive and nurture the ‘I can’t, but we can’ mindset within the whole team to encourage early requests for support when facing issues in delivery progression with the aim to drive learning, collaboration and minimise project delays and associated cost. Ensure that complex technical projects are effectively and efficiently led with good communication and collaboration between GEC, region and its partner organisations, proactively leading the resolution of any issues. Keep up to date with developments in the Energy sector (including technical and legislative), seeking opportunities to develop a strong professional profile for Arcadis (e.g. conference presentations, thought leadership articles and participation in technical committees). Sponsor innovation initiatives that resolve complex client challenges and promote Arcadis leadership in this area. Propose, agree, monitor and report key performance targets and financial budgets for the engineering teams in order to optimise business performance in line with set objectives for GEC teams. Perform project risk reviews for complex and major projects that are classified as high risk to the Arcadis business. Encourage innovative and entrepreneurial thinking amongst team members, sponsoring service delivery CoPs. Promote and market all facets of the company’s services during client interfaces, providing direction and a leading contribution to complex technical aspects of bids, supporting the production of high quality winning pursuits.Qualifications & Experience
Demonstrable experience of:
Delivery of complex multidisciplinary transmission and distribution projects, including concept to detail engineering of Substations,transmission lines, etc. Applying independent judgement and responsibility in leading the resolution of complex project challenges in a pressured environment. Establishing and developing high-performing teams capable of delivering complex multi-disciplinary technical projects in a design-build and client-side context. Providing inspiring leadership to mixed teams from varied disciplines, background and culture. Leading continuous improvement in ‘safe by design’ initiatives, health, safety and welfare. Providing effective contributions, insight and active leadership in support of successful pursuits. A strong commitment to Delivery excellence. Building credible relationships with senior leaders (internally and externally). Exhibiting the leadership qualities and behaviours sought in the Arcadis Global Leadership Model.Candidate should possess:
A strong understanding of the international Energy Transition sectors, challenges and opportunities.
