Position number :                    K0046328 Location of Employment:      Kansas Judicial Center, Topeka, KS 66612 Position Title and Salary :      Business Analyst, grade 44, $ 72, 797.03 annually                                                    Kansas Judicial Branch Benefits State Employment Center - Benefits (ks.gov) (https://admin.ks.gov/services/state-employment-center/benefits)          Job Duties: The Business Analyst supports organizational initiatives by gathering requirements, analyzing processes, and facilitating communication between business units and technical teams. This role plays a key part in understanding business needs, translating them into functional requirements, and ensuring that proposed solutions align with organizational goals. The Business Analyst helps build clarity and consensus through documentation, analysis, and stakeholder engagement. Examples of work performed: (Position may not include all duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.) Requirements Gathering & Analysis + Work with stakeholders to elicit, document, and validate business requirements. + Translate business needs into clear, concise functional requirements. + Assist in defining use cases, user stories, and acceptance criteria. + Conduct gap analysis and identify opportunities for improvement. Process Documentation & Improvement + Document current-state business processes, workflows, and data flows. + Support the development of future-state process designs and solution proposals. + Collaborate with teams to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements. Solution Support & Testing + Support solution design by clarifying requirements for developers and vendors. + Assist in preparing test plans, test cases, and user acceptance testing (UAT). + Participate in UAT sessions, track defects, and confirm that solutions meet business needs. Stakeholder Communication & Support + Act as a liaison between business units, IT teams, and external partners. + Facilitate meetings, requirements workshops, and follow-ups. + Prepare meeting notes, status updates, and requirements documentation. Project Support + Collaborate with project managers on scope, timelines, and deliverables. + Maintain traceability of requirements throughout the project lifecycle. + Contribute to project documentation, reporting, and change request tracking. Required Education and Experience: Education + Business Analysis certification is a plus. Experience + 1–3 years of experience in a business analysis or similar support role. + Exposure to structured project environments or SDLC/Agile methodologies is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: + Analytical Thinking – Able to interpret data and process information logically. + Communication – Strong written and verbal communication skills. + Collaboration – Works well with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. + Documentation – Proficient in writing requirements, process diagrams, and meeting summaries. + Technology Comfort – Familiarity with business analysis tools, MS Office, and collaboration platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Jira, Visio).
