Position Summary:
The Business Analyst reports directly to the Executive Director of Business Affairs and performs a broad range of professional analysis, development, and maintenance of academic and financial activities. The Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing financial data to identify trends, using data analytics to evaluate processes, identify requirements, and provide data-driven reports and suggestions to deans, directors, and executives.
This position has a hybrid schedule with onsite requirements in Canton, Ohio.
Department Summary:
The Business Affairs Department is essential to the college’s financial health, overseeing key operations such as student billing, payment collection, financial aid processing, grant management, and budgeting. The department ensures accurate account reconciliation, prepares detailed financial reports, and coordinates audits in compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations. Staff members provide proactive support to students by assisting with financial aid eligibility, refunds, and account inquiries, fostering transparency and accessibility. The department also collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to manage restricted funds, scholarships, and financial forecasting, supporting strategic decision-making.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree required: Bachelor’s degree preferred in relevant field, such as data analytics, business, finance, economics, or information technology Analytical mindset and able to gather, analyze and interpret data Experience in analyzing, standardizing, and improving processes Experience in forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis Knowledge of principles and practices of business accounting and financials Experience in Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, Access Experience with financial software, Lawson and Strata knowledge preferred 3-5 years of experience preferred Must be Ohio Resident to apply

Responsibilities & Expectations:
Performs data discovery, analysis and modeling both developing and maintaining reporting tools Analyzes data to prepare well organized, accurate, interpretive reports, dashboards and visualizations for internal and external use to better performance Consults with leadership and other financial personnel on long-range forecasts of revenues, expenditures, demands for services, and other financial/business issues promoting a culture of accountability through comprehensive data analysis Forecasting, budgeting and performing both variance analysis and financial analysis Assists in developing goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards. Provides descriptive studies about faculty/staff, students, and the instructional process Provides benchmarking and analytic support to administrative decision makers in support of strategic planning, accreditation, assessment of student learning, policy development, resource allocations, enrollment and budget projections, and other processes like retention and persistence Works collaboratively to promote effective college-wide information flow Supports compliance and accreditation efforts as assigned Role within the Culture of Assessment - Each administrator, staff, and faculty member is expected to understand, value, prioritize, and communicate assessment as a critical institutional practice.
