As a Business Analyst at Amazon, you will serve as a key analytical contributor working on complex business problems across multiple projects. This role combines execution with emerging strategic thinking to deliver data-driven solutions that influence business decisions. You'll work independently with limited guidance, leveraging advanced analytical tools and techniques to provide diagnostic analyses and generate insights that support team goals. The position requires strong technical skills in data analysis, excellent problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders up to senior leadership levels. You'll be responsible for optimizing analytical practices, streamlining business processes, and mentoring others while managing multiple priorities. Key job responsibilities
The candidate will own the production and delivery of a suite of standard reports, tools regularly used by the organization to make key business decisions. This will involve:
1. Creating, supporting and continuously improving reports and metrics that support the business operations
2. Converting data into digestible business intelligence and actionable information using tools like Quicksight/Tableau
3. Shaping and delivering key metrics, reports, and indicators by which business can assess its performance
4. Diving deep into large data sets to answer specific business questions using Excel, SQL and other data manipulation languages and present findings and recommendations to senior leadership
5. Working directly with business teams to utilize metrics and analysis to determine improvement opportunities
Tools used include:
1. SQL (Redshift)
2. Excel Advanced VBA
3. Tableau/Quicksight
4. Report scheduling tools (internal)
5. AWS (S3, Lambda, Athena)
A day in the life
Your typical day starts with prioritizing analytical requests and checking project deadlines. You might spend the morning analyzing data using SQL queries and creating visualizations for an upcoming presentation to leadership. You may lead a process improvement initiative with cross-functional partners, identifying opportunities to streamline operations. You'll mentor a junior analyst on advanced Excel techniques. The day might end with documenting your recommendations for a business process optimization project and planning tomorrow's deliverables and communicate insights to stakeholders.

The team is designed to ensure Amazon remains competitive in the online retail space with the best catalog quality, wide selection, supply chain defects and compliance programs. The team’s primary role is to create and enhance retail selection on the worldwide Amazon online catalog. The tasks handled have a direct impact on customer buying decisions and online user experience.
