Job Description
The Washington Post is seeking a Business Affairs Manager to join its Advertising team. This team supports the custom advertising programs created on behalf of our brand partners. As Business Affairs Manager, you will support the Advertising organization with all aspects of structuring, negotiating and advising on a wide variety of business matters, including legal agreements relating to the development, production, and acquisition of original branded content. The role will have a variety of responsibilities including business term development, negotiation support as well as independent negotiation of smaller-scale vendor and production service agreements, industry research and supporting and advising internal stakeholders on the contents and parameters of our deals. You will also help to ensure all digital insertion orders meet established terms and will work to negotiate in partnership with our Agency teams, Client Partner Teams and Legal teams to find appropriate and complementary terms for the advertiser as well as Washington Post.

Contract drafting, negotiating and advisory responsibilities for WP Client Services teamDraft, revise, review, and negotiate media vendor agreements, technology vendor agreements, talent agreements, license agreements, statements of work, LOAs, and other legal documentsAdvise on all Business Affairs matters for development, production, post production, sales, distribution, and service of all business endeavors from a legal, financial, production and strategic perspectiveReview provided advertiser content for potential legal issues as neededWork with cross-functional partners including Legal, Finance, Client Partnerships, Product Marketing, Operations and WP Creative Group.Participate in project scoping discussionsHelp identify media program deal pointsServe as key liaison between media partner and client’s legal teamsWork with internal counsel handling production, legal and rights and clearance mattersAnalyze deal opportunities and formulate business strategies with respect to various development and production mattersOversee corporate compliance with contractual and legal obligations in regards to Media and ProductionWorking with internal partners to review and manage third party contracts/SOWs to ensure complianceMaintaining department business affairs files (signed agreements, e-mails, etc.) from all projectsAssist with handling of rights clearance issuesIdentify and resolve legal process issuesWork with Agency teams to evaluate and solve production and contract concernsQualifications:
5+ years of experience in Business AffairsBusiness Affairs experience with media properties and creative agenciesProven experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal agreementsFamiliarity with print and digital mediaExperience negotiating strategic transactionsMust be eligible to work in the USThe Washington Post’s policy for employees is five days per week in the office, with exceptions for newsgathering and general business travel.

The salary range for this position is:
85,100.00 - 127,700.00 USD AnnualThe actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
