POSITION TITLE: BUS CHAPERONE
STATUS: SEASONAL, PART-TIME

SCOPE OF POSITION:Assist with the transportation of campers to and from Camp Gifford. Provide general supervision, ensuring the physical and emotional safety of the campers. Take accountability and ensure all the appropriate children are on the bus. Take possession of all paperwork, medication, and money while in transport. Make sure to pick up and drop off campers as per the directions of the Camp and local leadership.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: Experience working with children preferred High school graduate or equivalent At least 18 years old Manage, engage, and control groups of children ages 7-17 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Good communication skills Be able to pass a child safety background check Detail-oriented and well-organized Knowledge of child/personnel safety, planning, problem solving, and crisis intervention ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Meet the bus at the Bus Depot or the agreed-upon location. Transition the campers onto the bus, including meeting the campers in a friendly way. Maintain accountability and ensure all the appropriate children are on the bus. Take possession of all paperwork, medications, and money from local coordinators. Manage and control campers while in transit. Ensure the campers are physically and emotionally safe. Beware of bullying, name-calling, and any inappropriate behavior or speech. Enforce camp policies and procedures. Maintain the utmost level of safety for staff and campers at all times. Ensure compliance with standards of safety and programmatic conduct at all times. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis Grasp, push, pull objects, and reach overhead Operate a telephone and a computer Lift up to 25 Understand verbal and written information Sweep, clean, and perform other janitorial tasks as neededQualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
