AMRTC is an inpatient psychiatric hospital serving adults with mental illness in a large, campus-based setting. The population also includes individuals civilly committed for specialized care, such as competency for criminal court (Rule 20), emergency 48-hour bed holds, and co-occurring mental illness/chemical dependency. Located just 15 minutes north of the Twin Cities metro, this modern facility offers compassionate, person-centered care in a pleasant environment appreciated by patients and employees alike. As a Building Utilities Mechanic, you will maintain hospital facilities and equipment, which includes but is not limited to ventilation, heating, cooling, plumbing, building repairs, light electrical, small engine repair, and grounds at the Anoka-Metro Regional Treatment Center. Respond to emergencies at the hospital after hours and on weekends as needed. Job duties include: + Operate, test and perform maintenance on low pressure boilers. + Operate and test water softener and condensate systems. + Maintain all operating equipment in power plant to include all pumps and air handlers. + Assist other maintenance, trades, and facilities personnel with their workload when asked for assistance. + Maintain or assist Low Voltage specialist in proper operations and troubleshooting of fire protection systems and equipment. + Maintain all heating plant operations. + Assist in maintaining the emergency generator to assure proper working condition. **Minimum Qualifications** Must carry a Minnesota 2nd Class C or higher Boilers License. Applicants meeting the above qualification(s) will be further assessed on the following: + Knowledge and skills in the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in trades work sufficient to assist skilled trades staff in the completion of assigned projects. + Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures related to trades work sufficient to safely and efficiently perform the job duties. + Skills in using hand and power tools and other trades equipment. + Ability to repair and maintain small engines and grounds equipment. + Ability to perform minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and/or electrical systems and equipment maintenance work. + Ability to perform minor repairs and adjustments to machinery and equipment including the general maintenance and minor repairs of buildings. + Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions sufficient to interpret and carry out assignments in a safe and efficient manner. + Ability to provide work direction to unskilled helpers. **Preferred Qualifications** Experience working with the operation and maintenance of mechanical and other utilities and systems used in hospitals. **Additional Requirements** To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.
