Purpose

Directly oversees and directs the activities of each Building Attendant Leader in the assigned area. Directly oversee the day to day operation of all buildings in your area to ensure they are clean, sanitary, maintained, and the furniture is in no need of repair, and you communicate with your Manager and keep him/her informed of all needs and employee logistics. Assist Manager in all training and ensuring that all compliance and updated. Ensure that inventory and supply needs are filled and within the budget. Assist manager in maintaining conference and summer turn occupancies to standards. Assist in all other duties assigned by manager.

Responsibilities

Communicate clearly and concisely in writing and verbally with residents, subordinates, supervisors, residence life, and other departments. Interface with Residence Life personnel and maintenance staff on building needs and student related issues.

Directly oversees and directs the activities of each Building attendant Leader and Building Attendant in all areas. Directly oversee the building service operations of all buildings in your area to ensure they are clean, sanitary, maintained, safe, furniture in no need of repair. Communicate with your Building Services Manager and keep him/her informed. Schedule staff including weekend staff and prepares schedule of work to be performed.

Ensures prompt submission of maintenance requests to Managers, Building Services and follows through to ensure that buildings are maintained at proper comfort and safety standards. Assist the Building Service Manager in quality control and room preparation for turnover of rooms during the summer and summer conferences. Responsible for the inspection of each room and sign off prior to being used by a student for the beginning of fall semester. Coordinate linen service, delivery and pick-up. Re-assign and align the staffing to perform summer cleaning and building preparation.

Enter maintenance request in FAMIS or provide to the Building Service Manager and follow through to ensure that buildings are maintained and safe. Walk the buildings on a regular basis and inspect for any maintenance needed.

Knowledgeable of University & University Housing and Dining policies and procedures. Follow and implement the University and UHD policies and procedures. Interprets the policies to subordinates.

Perform other duties as assigned. Responsible for assuming the duties of the Building Services Manager in their absence. Review application and related documents. Make recommendations for staff work areas and reassignments.

Responsible to the  Manager for the development, administration and coordination of employee quality control, recognition, and motivational programs. Inspect employee  areas  to ensure quality of cleaning. Perform Fire & Life Inspections, monthly floor inspections, 1/1's, and staff evaluations. Train and develops staff on custodial techniques. Coordinate and provide safety training. Ensure areas of assessments performed as scheduled by management.

Works in a large environment encouraging, support, and promoting professional development of self and all staff to improve knowledge and work skills through ongoing training workshops.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

At least 4 years supervisory experience in custodial maintenance work or related management activities

Use of cleaning and janitorial materials, equipment and methods

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

More than 4 years of experience in supervising or managing building cleaning and custodial personnel.

More than 2 years of knowledge and experience with custodial equipment, custodial maintenance, carpet and floor care equipment.

Experience in identifying maintenance and repair needs and an understanding of maintenance terminology.

Experience in setting up for various conference programs and for scheduling of staff to accommodate conference program.

Experience using Microsoft office.

Experience using work order systems such as UT Works and/or Workday.

Experience housing and servicing students and conferences in residence halls.

Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Demonstrated ability to receive, respond, and follow through with verbal and written work related instructions from supervisors, customers, and co-workers. 

Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

Salary Range

$52,000+ depending on qualifications

Work Shift

Monday - Friday, 7:30AM- 4:00PM. Work days, hours, and area may vary based upon the needs of the unit and Housing and Dining.
