Building Operations Technician

Real Property Asset Management Division

 

Status: (1) Contract Full Time position - Up to 6 months

Salary Range: $73,850 - $92,313 per annum 

Hiring Range: $73,850 - $83,081.50 per annum 

Work Mode: Onsite

Location: 6825 Tomken Road, Mississau, ON

Hours of work: 35 hours per week; Monday - Friday 7:00AM - 3:00PM

 

This role is suitable for a commercial facilities coordinator with strong and diverse experience in facility administration, building operations and maintenance, budgeting and contractor coordination. Reporting to a Property Integration Manager, you will be supported by technical specialists to deliver comprehensive services to Regional employees and visitors.

What you will do: 

Ensure the effective operations of Regional facilities and properties and that they are compliant while contributing to program service delivery and occupant/visitor safetyCoordinate a variety of facility services including security, groundskeeping, janitorial, contracted maintenance staff and others as assignedBuild and maintain positive working relationships within the division, program partners, other internal service providers and all Regional staffProvide guidance and oversee activities of contracted staffMonitor and report on related facility portfolio operating budgetsCoordinate day to day property operations and service contracts to ensure timely responses and a proactive approach in overall property maintenance and safetyCoordinate contracted services by creating contract scope, validating the quality of work, quotation review, vendor performance reviews as well as validating invoices for routine and additional workPerform building inspections, draft building notices, respond to occupant in a timely manner, perform work in accordance with targets set out in Service Level AgreementsParticipate in the annual development of facility’s capital and operating plans and budget. Support project implementationRoutinely monitor the financial status of assigned operational accounts/servicesTake proactive steps to understand Regional programs and facility occupant needs. Coordinate work activities that meet their needsWork to ensure facilities support continuous program service delivery to residents in PeelBe aware of and implement emergency business continuity activitiesCoordinate activities to ensure facilities are compliant with legislative requirementsPerform or coordinate external vendors to perform activities resulting from Health and Safety Committee inspectionsDemonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

 

What the role requires: 

Minimum of 5 years property management experience with vendor management, administration and financial management responsibilitiesPost-secondary education or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be consideredProficiency in all MS Office applicationsClass G driver's license in good standing free of serious offenses with daily access to a car

 

Skills/Abilities:  

Ability to participate in a rotational on-call schedule for several other Regional facilitiesAbility to coordinate a high volume of activities thrive in a fast-paced environment and stay organizedAbility to remain current on building technology, systems and equipmentAbility to provide leadership to contracted vendors using effective communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skillsAbility to use sound judgment and deal with ambiguous complex situations in a professional mannerStrong customer service skills and a high level of acumen and diplomacy with internal and external customers

Nice to have: 

A property or facility management designation, or working towards a designation, such as FMP & SFP would be preferredProject Management experience an assetWorking knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is an asset
