After probationary period is successfully completed, shift may change to 3:30pm-11:30pm during the school year. Position Summary Information Position Summary An employee in this job tests, calibrates, troubleshoots, repairs, and installs the mechanical, electrical, electronic, and digital components of automated building control systems. Job Duties Include: • Calibrates, troubleshoots, repairs, and installs the mechanical, electrical, electronic, and digital components of the BA system such as sensors, switches, control valves, damper actuators, and variable frequency drive controls. • Identifies and troubleshoots the electrical and mechanical issues of BA system-controlled equipment through review and navigation of the system, to include sequence of operations, equipment features and settings, and error and trend reports. • Disconnects and dismantles electronic devices such as controllers and sensors and corrects defects by adjusting, repairing, or replacing parts or units and associated wiring. • Commissions software on a point-by-point basis to ensure proper operation of equipment and troubleshoots, resolves, and retests issues that are identified. • Provides technical support to trades and maintenance staff in central and remote locations in troubleshooting and resolving issues with BA system-controlled equipment. • Reviews daily error and alarms log reports and determines appropriate software settings or equipment adjustments to maintain system performance. • Interprets multi-view drawings, sketches, wiring diagrams, electrical and electronic block diagrams, sequence of operations, schematics, and manufacturers’ specifications for maintenance, repair, and installation assignments. • Adjusts BA system software settings to maximize efficiency for fluctuations such as temperature, humidity, occupancy levels, time, and use. • Performs diagnostics, equipment inspection, simulation testing, and related activities necessary to troubleshoot and resolve issues in the sequence of operations function. • Assists with development of controls specifications by reviewing equipment design, establishing technical and performance requirements, and conducting on-site facility reviews. • Provides technical guidance and support to BA system users, to include accessing and navigating the BA system, and interpreting sequence of operation, graphics, and data. • Monitors, tests, and performs approved repairs on pneumatic controls, such as actuators, valves, and thermostats. • Supports contractors in identifying and diagnosing BA system equipment malfunctions through reviewing error reports, diagnostic testing results, and conducting visible and audible examination of the equipment. • Operates motor vehicles. • Performs related work as required. • Maintains Valid PA driver’s license Minimum Qualifications Successful completion of the HVAC and Building Automation Technician Trainee (commonwealth title) training program or • Three years of experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC , refrigeration systems, related digitally controlled equipment, or BA systems which includes one year working with industrial or commercial electronic controls and sensors or • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year working with industrial or commercial electronic controls and sensors SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : • Certain positions require possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent • Certain positions must obtain the EPA Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification from an approved provider within 6 months of employment Preferred Qualifications Experience working with diverse populations. Three years of experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC , refrigeration systems, related digitally controlled equipment, or BA systems which includes one year working with industrial or commercial electronic controls and sensors.
