Job Summary
The Systems Engineer Senior Associate provides technical support to plan, schedule and execute hardware engineering and implementation of Building Automation Systems projects in Healthcare, Industrial, Commercial and Mission Critical / Technology sectors.
This Systems Engineer Senior Associate will work with design engineers, construction contractors, equipment vendors and client staff to ensure proper operation and acceptance of the automation and software solutions.
The Systems Engineer Senior Associate will receive general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.\u202F May work independently or under immediate supervision.\u202F May serve as lead on routine projects of limited scope.
This person will communicate and operate in line with organizational goals and values, as well as departmental objectives.
Essential Functions
Develop and Execute Hardware Engineering Solutions (70%)
+ Support designs for DDC and PLC programmable controller-based control systems for one or more projects
+ Support BAS controls and EPMS AE design and system integrator shop drawing design
+ Design controls network / system architecture including IT / OT requirements and interface to match the application needs
+ Support selection of instrumentation, sensors, actuators, valves and other field devices and create Bill of materials (BOMs)
+ Support designs for control panels including layout, control power, relay logic, and wiring diagrams
+ Create and review project specifications
+ Create and review sequence of operations
+ Work with client IT departments to ensure safe and secure systems to meet best practices
Construction Related Process, Deliverables and Submissions (15%)
+ Review and submit deliverables per project requirements including AE design drawings, shop drawings, product data, operations and maintenance manuals, and as-builts
+ Participate in building automation focused design reviews
+ Serve as client contact for one or more clients on projects of routine or complex scope
+ Participate in internal and external quality control and peer reviews
+ Coordinate with vendors for product specifications, pricing and availability
+ Lead internal and external project meeting discussions on engineering scope
Reporting and Communication (15%)
+ Contribute to project communication and reporting
+ Prepare development of project progress reports for internal and external stakeholders
+ Manage personal hours using company tools
Completion of Assigned Tasks and Deliverables on Time and on Budget
Performs Other Related Duties as Assigned
Requirements
Position Requirements (Intermediate level for all the following)
+ Knowledge of IoT or smart building solutions
+ Knowledge of VLANs, LANs, VPNs or RSTP
+ Knowledge of open source protocols (BACnet, Modbus and SNMP)
+ Knowledge of Distech, Tridium, Honeywell DDC, Allen-Bradley, and Schneider PLC hardware platforms
+ Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management
+ Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
+ Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows, optimize operational processes, and contribute to company-wide innovation
+ Ability to work successfully in a remote environment thru effective communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness and resourcefulness in a distraction free workspace
+ Ability to follow company and site safety requirements
+ Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondence
+ Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form (technical and non-technical information)
+ Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision
+ Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines
+ Ability to achieve certification for NFPA70E and / or OSHA training as / if required
+ Organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Travel / Relocation Requirements
+ Up to 20%, this may include travel to any or all 50 US states
+ Travel is defined as physically leaving home on behalf of business activities including but not limited to client sites, meetings with other employees, meeting for business development purposes, running errands on behalf of the business, attending industry conferences, etc.
Education / Experience Requirements
+ Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction or related discipline
OR
+ Two years of experience with hands-on engineering, programming, testing, validation and troubleshooting of controls infrastructure
PLUS
+ Minimum of three years additional experience with hardware engineering of controls infrastructure
