RESPONSIBILITY: Sets up and operates semi-automatic buffing machine. JOB DUTIES: + Committed to ensuring the achievement of continuous improvement within area of expertise, as well as areas of business in order to remain at the forefront of meeting Company objectives, thus proactively satisfying customers. + This position mandates that all required safety classes, trainings, and certifications be completed and maintained within the specific position/department. + Is aware of relevance and importance of their activities and how they contribute to the achievement of the quality objectives. + This position requires an employee to work their regularly scheduled shift; ability to work overtime and weekends. + Must be aware of and comply with related IATF/ISO procedures, as applicable. + Must meet qualitative and quantitative standards for the position and department. + Verify that lot cards have all previous operations signed off. ▪ Selects grade of abrasive flaps and installs in prescribed manner on each wheel. + Selects proper spindle tips. + Starts conveyor, starts flap wheels and loads parts on spindle. + Observes lights, dials and gauges, pushes buttons on panel to adjust operating conditions. + Removes buffed parts from spindle and examines them to ensure that surface conditions meet specifications per ISO standards Level 3 work instructions. + Employees assigned to the work on either the Harper Buffer or Acme Buffer are NEVER allowed to enter the machine room unless the following has occurred: + Employee has been trained in Company Lock Out/Tag Out program. The proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures have been followed, machine is locked out. + Temporary employees are NEVER allowed in the Buffers machine rooms. + Strong commitment to continuous improvement. + Cleans machine daily and keep work area orderly. + Performs preventative maintenance as required. + This job description in no way states or even implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee. EDUCATION &/ OR EXPERIENCE: + Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally. + High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. + Accuracy and knowledge of machine functions. + Mechanical aptitude. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. + Maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, vendors, co-workers, and Supervisors. + Will not impose on self or others as a direct threat to health or safety. + Works as a team player, helping to meet departmental and Company goals and objectives. + Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner. + Ability to learn and perform repetitive tasks quickly. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints. + Given proper instruction, ability to work with hands and to work in mechanically oriented situations. + Ability to acquire some skill in the use of standard equipment and hand tools peculiar to the area of assignment. + Ability to understand and carry out routine written and oral instructions and to work with little or no supervision. + Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with other employees. + Given proper instruction, ability to properly use the required inspection tools and procedures. + Given proper instruction and personal protection safety equipment (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection) safely perform all required tasks. + Become adept with total machine function. + Given proper instruction, ability to operate fork truck. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: + The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. + Management can move employees into other departments for business needs. + Position requires individual to be capable of traveling and working throughout the entire facility, within reasonable accommodation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. + This position requires regular use of a powered air purifying respirator (respirator hood). Must pass Respirator Protection training.
