Position Summary:
This position is responsible for providing technical assistance to producers caring for the company's birds, ensuring their proper care and comfort. Key duties include advising producers on building and equipment specifications, litter manipulation, and farm sanitation. Responsibilities also involve conducting farm visits to document bird comfort, manage flock and equipment settings, monitor bird health, and provide remedies when possible. Additionally, the role includes monitoring feed consumption, ordering feed as necessary, pulling blood and fat samples on time when required, coordinating chick placements to farms, assisting with catch schedules, and ensuring effective communication between hatchery, feed mill, and live haul regarding contract farms. The position ensures compliance with production contracts to produce flocks of the highest quality and lowest cost due to good performance and adherence to all USDA and other government regulations when handling poultry. Other duties may include collaborating with the Broiler and Breeder Departments to coordinate weekly chick placements and performing additional responsibilities as needed.
Requirements:
Education: Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in an agricultural field or equivalent experience relevant to the position."Experience: Preferred qualifications include 1+ years’ experience in a poultry or agriculture-related fieldStrong Communication Skills: Ability to convey information clearly and effectively through both verbal and written means. Proficiency in active listening, ensuring mutual understanding, and adapting communication style to various audiences.Computer Skills: Basic computer skills such as checking electronic mail, entering data into document templates, or creating simple queries.Travel: 1 to 5 trips per year.License: Must have a valid Mississippi driver’s license with no more than two moving violations in the last two years, excluding D.U.I. convictions. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a company license.Schedule: Must have a flexible schedule.Additional Requirement: Must not own, possess, or otherwise maintain any domestic, wild, or exotic fowl.
