Bridge Engineer

JOB LOCATION: Dallas, TX

 

POSITION: Bridge Engineer

 

POSITION: Structural design for all project types, including complex bridge designs for highways and railways; planning and schematic/geometric layout of new structures; perform analysis and design calculations according to the applicable design codes; use computer programs as appropriate; prepare plan drawings and details, construction specifications and design calculations; perform on-site inspection, analysis and condition assessment of existing structures; perform Construction and Life Cycle Cost estimates and prepare load rating calculations; oversee project construction administration including site visits, reviews of shop drawings and requests for information; and assist project managers with scoping and budgeting for structural work and be responsible for quality assurance of deliverables.

 

REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field plus 3 years related experience. Required skills: Produce buildable structural engineering contract drawings, calculations and quantity estimates; Develop mechanics and finite element-based software analysis models to examine the structural performance of various structural components; Develop complete structural design and detailing of bridge systems with material class of reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete and structural steel; Establish vertical and horizontal geometric layout of structures using survey information; Interpret structure geotechnical report and define soil structure interaction response for design and detailing; Assist in preparing structure type comparative study for project development reports and preliminary designs to estimate quantities for bid support; Perform load rating of existing bridges to examine structural adequacy using guidelines for bridge evaluation. Up to 20% domestic travel required. Up to 40% remote work allowed. Must live within normal commuting distance of the worksite.

 

Full time. The pay range for this role is $103,500.00 to $115,000.00. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
