SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for providing technical assistance to producers caring for the company's birds to ensure proper care and comfort.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Advising Producers: Offer guidance on building and equipment specifications, litter manipulation, and farm sanitation.
Farm Visits: Document bird comfort, manage the flock, and adjust equipment settings.
Feed and Light Schedules: Direct and monitor schedules to optimize bird health and productivity.
Health Monitoring: Oversee bird health, egg production, body weight, and conformation, providing remedies when necessary.
Sample Collection: Pull blood and fat samples on time as required.
Coordination: Manage bird placements to farms, assist with catch schedules, and ensure communication between hatchery, feed mill, vaccination crews, and live-haul.
Compliance: Ensure both producer and company compliance with production contracts to produce high-quality, cost-effective flocks.
Regulation Adherence: Follow all USDA and other government regulations when handling poultry.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a valid Driver's license
Be at least 18 years of age or older.
No DUI/DWIs in the last 12 months
Education:
Bachelors degree in Animal Science, Poultry Science, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in poultry breeding or a related field preferred.
Strong understanding of breeding practices, genetic selection, and animal husbandry preferred.
Computer Skills:
Elementary computer skills such as checking electronic mail entering data into document templates or creating simple queries.
Communication Skills:
Basic written and verbal skills
Travel:
1 to 5 trips per year
