Supply, trading & shipping (ST&S)

Your early careers programme  
Graduates who join the supply, trading & shipping early careers programme will follow one of these tracks: Trading, Analytics and Commercial. Irrespective of the track, you will follow a structured development offer to accelerate the acquisition of foundational technical skills, experience and knowledge, and application in the business world. 

The programme supports transition from university to discipline professional and provides a framework of ‘non-technical’ skills to support building personal effectiveness skills. 

The three-year programme which comprises three 12-month rotations is designed to give you breadth of experience and the opportunity to build technical depth. You will be challenged in many ways – all of which will build your confidence, expertise, and experience at pace, giving you the flexibility to eventually take your career in the direction that suits you best. ​ 

 

Along with being part of the bp early careers community, you will have a dedicated support network to provide guidance on the programme, advice on career development and answer your questions, helping you to navigate the organization. Our world-class learning journey will incorporate online and virtual learning with face-to-face classroom and on-the-job training giving you the behavioural and technical skills you need to build a truly outstanding career. ​ 

Analytics development track: Analysts have the opportunity to directly influence the bottom line as part of a highly commercial and skilled team. Working in the fast-paced world of our trading floors and with access to vast amounts of data and information, you’ll focus on driving continued growth in trading profits and acting as a subject matter expert on energy market fundamentals.

 

Supply, trading & shipping analytics includes a range of disciplines:

Short term market analytics seeks to identify and understand fundamental drivers that influence market prices up to two years forward. Analysts are often co-located on the trading desks, and employ models of supply and demand, physical storage, weather, shipping and power generation, coupled with real-time data feeds, to provide actionable commercial insights to the front-line trading teams.

Structuring works closely with the trading and origination teams to structure and value complex financial and physical transactions. The modelling of key drivers of financial value, deal scenario analysis and designing tailored customer solutions are a strong focus for the team.

About you ​ 

 

As a bp graduate, you will have an interest and/or skill in delivering economic value back to a business, identifying solutions and strategies resulting in cost savings and a natural negotiation style. No matter where you work at bp, you’ll be valued, included and respected. We’ll provide you with on-going support and we’ll reward you for the great work you do. 

 

To be eligible for the ST&S graduate programme you should:  

be currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in any discipline which could range from Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Arts to STEM 

be in your final year of study, graduating between December 2025 and July 2026 or recently graduated 

hold the rights to work in Singapore
