Bookkeeper
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team on a long-term contract basis in New York, New York. This role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting payroll processes, and producing critical financial reports. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, organizational skills, and a commitment to precision in all aspects of financial management. Responsibilities: • Record and categorize financial transactions, including sales, purchases, payments, and receipts, ensuring accurate data entry into the accounting system. • Update and reconcile the general ledger to maintain consistency and accuracy in financial records. • Conduct regular bank reconciliations for accounts, credit cards, and other financial assets. • Manage accounts payable and receivable by preparing invoices, processing payments, and following up on outstanding balances. • Generate financial statements such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports for management review. • Ensure compliance with legal and company policies while preparing for audits by organizing necessary financial documentation. • Support payroll operations by tracking employee hours, managing deductions, and assisting in payroll processing. • Maintain detailed records of business expenses to aid in reporting and budgeting processes. Requirements • Associate degree or certification in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred. • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or similar roles. • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks or Xero, along with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy in financial recordkeeping. • Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently during account reconciliations. • Familiarity with accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and bank reconciliations. • Excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot financial issues and streamline processes.
