Description
Our client is looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team in North Houston, Texas. In this contract-to-permanent role, you will support financial operations within the construction industry, focusing on accounts payable, accounts receivable, and project-based accounting. This position requires strong attention to detail, proficiency in QuickBooks, and a solid understanding of lien processes and retainage. The role is fully onsite, Monday-Friday from 8-5.
Responsibilities:
• Manage accounts payable processes, including sorting purchase orders, entering invoices into QuickBooks, and ensuring vendor payments are accurate and timely.
• Handle accounts receivable tasks such as generating customer invoices, processing monthly billing, and issuing lien notices for overdue accounts.
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
• Prepare financial statements, including profit and loss reports and balance sheets, while managing tax payments and compliance.
• Maintain detailed records of lien releases, retainage, and vendor folders, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and organized.
• Resolve vendor and client inquiries related to billing, payments, and general accounting issues with professionalism and efficiency.
• Provide administrative support, including document notarization, mail management, and assisting with company vehicle registrations.
• Collaborate with the Office Manager to streamline filing and office operations.
• Utilize QuickBooks for journal entries and miscellaneous accounting data entry.
• Support accounts receivable factoring loans and ensure proper documentation.
Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably within the construction industry.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger reconciliation.
• Knowledge of lien releases, lien notices, retainage, and sales tax compliance is highly preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills and customer service abilities.
• Notary public certification or willingness to obtain certification is a plus.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in financial documentation and reporting.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team while managing individual responsibilities.
