Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team on a contract basis in Alexandria, Virginia. This role is integral to ensuring smooth financial operations within our organization, which operates in the healthcare and social assistance industry. The position offers a variety of accounting-related responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers and maintaining accurate financial records. Responsibilities: • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including accurate data entry and timely payments. • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for organizational accounts. • Support financial tracking and reporting for grants and other funding sources. • Assist with payroll processing and serve as a backup for payroll-related tasks. • Participate in the annual audit process by gathering required documents for auditors. • Contribute to month-end close procedures and maintain fixed asset schedules with related journal entries. • Assist in the development of the annual budget by collecting departmental budgets and entering data into spreadsheets. • Maintain and organize accounting documents through scanning and filing. • Prepare membership invoices and follow up with members regarding overdue payments. • Collaborate with team members to accurately process registrations for conferences, webinars, and other organizational events. Requirements • Proven experience in bookkeeping, including accounts payable and receivable. • Proficiency in bank reconciliations and payroll processing. • Familiarity with accounting software, especially Sage Intacct. • Strong organizational skills to manage financial records and documentation. • Ability to assist with budget preparation and financial reporting. • Experience supporting audit processes and compliance requirements. • Knowledge of fixed asset schedules and journal entries. • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and engaging with clients.
