PURPOSE
Reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting & Tax Compliance this individual will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting and finance requirements. The ability to maintain client confidentiality, excellent organization skills, and the ability to communicate effectively are critical.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the quarterly billing process, including invoice preparation, the collection of accounts, and the management of cashflow; Prepare and post daily transactions and maintain the general ledgers of a variety of entities; Complete bank and expense report reconciliations on a monthly basis; Co-ordinates payment of monthly, quarterly, and annual tax instalments and remittances, including corporate tax instalments, personal tax instalments and non-resident tax payments; Coordinate with the President and Treasurer to manage bank deposits and vendor payments; Manage the cheque requisition process for a variety of entities; Prepare the quarter and year-end closing of the company’s books including but not limited to: income statement variance analysis, analysis of prepaid expenses, and recording of accruals for review by the Accountant and Director of Financial Reporting Manage and maintain petty cash float; Maintain the Tax database of digital and physical filing of records Manage incoming and outgoing mail, including courier service arrangements.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Degree or Diploma in Business Administration & Accounting or in related field. Proficient in accounting software; QuickBooks is preferred. Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; and proficiency in Outlook. Knowledge of principles and practices of accounting, including auditing and financial record keeping/reporting. Customer focused professional with strong interpersonal skills. Proven prioritization, time management and project management skills. Ability to work with confidential information. Solid organizational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines. Work independently with general guidance. Excellent attention to detail. High level of initiative.
