Description We are looking for a meticulous and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team on a contract basis in New York, New York. This role involves detailed financial analysis, reconciliation, and reporting to ensure accuracy and transparency in company records. Ideal candidates will possess strong forensic accounting skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Responsibilities: • Reconcile internal financial data in Dynamics 365 (Business Central) with external records to ensure consistency. • Investigate discrepancies in financial records and provide thorough reports on findings. • Collaborate with the company President to deliver clear and concise updates on financial progress. • Conduct forensic-level reviews of financial documents, identifying and resolving inaccuracies. • Assist with general bookkeeping tasks, including accounts payable, receivable, and bank reconciliations. • Develop strategies for financial cleanup and recommend improvements to accounting practices. • Work independently with external accounting firms to align and verify financial data. • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial issues with professionalism. Requirements • At least 5 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or forensic accounting. • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Business Central) or similar accounting software is preferred. • Proven ability to work independently and manage complex financial investigations. • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to spot inconsistencies. • Strong communication skills for translating financial findings into actionable insights. • Open to candidates who are semi-retired or seeking flexible work arrangements. • Experience with QuickBooks, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations is a plus.
