Description We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team on a short-term contract basis in Metairie, Louisiana. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in bookkeeping, accounting, and payroll processes, with expertise in QuickBooks and multi-state tax reporting. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to manage financial operations efficiently. Responsibilities: • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including recording financial transactions and maintaining accurate ledgers. • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable activities in a timely and organized manner. • Perform bank reconciliations to ensure records align with financial statements. • Handle payroll tax reporting and ensure compliance with multi-state tax regulations. • Prepare and file unemployment and multi-state tax returns accurately. • Support month-end closing activities, including accruals and financial statement preparation. • Utilize QuickBooks to streamline accounting processes and maintain up-to-date records. • Monitor and resolve discrepancies in financial data to maintain accuracy. • Assist with financial audits by providing necessary documentation and reports. • Collaborate with team members to improve accounting processes and ensure compliance with regulations. Requirements • Proven experience in bookkeeping and financial management. • Proficiency in QuickBooks software for accounting operations. • Strong knowledge of accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes. • Experience with bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies. • Familiarity with payroll tax reporting and multi-state tax returns. • Ability to handle month-end close activities, including accruals. • Knowledge of unemployment tax filings and compliance requirements. • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple financial tasks efficiently.
