Job Overview Operate, maintain and/or install stationary engines, boilers, or other mechanical equipment to provide utilities for buildings or industrial processes. Operate, maintain, and/or install equipment, such as steam engines, generators, motors, turbines, related to boilers and high fire water heaters using material lists, designs, schematics, or asbuilts. Work Model: Onsite Responsibilities Essential Duties & Job Functions: Remove and install boilers as needed. Repair and/or install control transformers, electrodes, relays, solenoids, switches, thermostats, theostats, aquastats, circulating, generating pumps, fuel pumps, and retrofitting of gas, DDC controls, electrical inputs, and plumbing. Derate various types of boilers and dial them into factory-recommended specifications. Reconfigure boiler installations due to poor installation of controls, plumbing, or improper draft. Install new ceiling exhaust fans and sheet metal work to buildings exterior for proper combustible draft. Keeps supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered. Utilize correct methods to repair malfunctions on boiler systems and appurtenances. Correct any noted boiler installation problems related to electrical, plumbing, and DDC. Repair piping, valves, gauges, pumps, motors, steam traps, strainers, check valves, and relief valves. Performs visual, audible, and mechanical checks; checks gauges, recording devices, and controllers. Monitor boiler water, chemical, and fuel levels, and make adjustments to maintain required levels. Test boiler water quality or arrange for testing; and take any necessary corrective action, such as adding chemicals, to prevent corrosion and harmful deposits. Logs associated with daily and monthly boiler performance for reporting purposes. Must understand the principles of steam and generating processes; be knowledgeable of burner controls and operations on both oil and gas configurations. Provide technical training to Boiler Mechanics as required. Respond to emergency call-outs as requested. Perform all other work-related duties as assigned. Job Requirements Mandatory: Must have 3 years of boiler operational experience. Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Knowledge of the practical application of engineering, science, and technology; capable of applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various boilers and hydronic systems. Knowledge of various mathematical applications and chemical compositions. Possess a valid Nevada Driver’s License. High School graduate or equivalent. Employee to furnish their hand tools. Must be able to comprehend, read, speak, and write proficiently in the English language. Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional and courteous manner in diversified situations.
