Boiler Operator –

Shift- Thursday-Sunday 8am -5pm

Functions

Description

Must be able to use basic hand tools. Requires: basic mechanical or maintenance skills, Basic knowledge in areas of , hydraulics, basic electricity, pneumatics & plumbing, 1 year or more experience in boiler operation and industrial maintenance, able to read & understand assignments, able to communicate orally & in writing, able to hear/respond to two-way radio, able to lift 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders up to 50 feet, able to stand for long periods of time, withstand extreme hot, cold, inclement weather & odors, basic knowledge of math, able to use various electrical & pneumatic power tools & equipment. Monitor boiler and perform chemical test on boiler. May be required to read drawings & schematics of hydraulic & basic electrical systems. Must be certified to operate various pieces of gas/hydraulic motors/lifts. Performs duties such as removing, replacement of motors, motor shafts, couplings, pumps, augers, water & steam pipes, lines, & systems. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Must be able to pass boiler certification. Any applicant meeting minimum requirements may be contacted for an interview.

Tasks

Operate, repair, maintain, and adjust boilers, pumps, compressors, water lines, steam lines, valves, and all related systems and equipment. Perform frequent inspection checks and regular maintenance on boiler systems and related valves, gauges, piping, and other equipment. Constantly inspect water, gas, Flue gas and other fluid levels inside boilers and related equipment, make adjustments to fluids as necessary to keep systems operating at peak levels. Record daily gas readings, feed water tests, and other test results. Adjust valves and boiler controls as needed to control the amount of pressure in the system and keep the boiler system functioning safely. Keep all boiler rooms, related facilities, and work areas clean and organized at all times. Have good verbal and written communication skills. Have good oral communication skills to discuss issues with the Maintenance Supervisor. Able to understand information contained in Maintenance manuals. The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

· Must have at least 1 year maintenance experience and 6 months of continuous employment in the last 2 years.
