Job Description Civil Service Title- Bridge Repairer and Riveter Bridge Repairer and Riveters repair and maintain the structural members of bridges including steel beams, columns, girders and handrails. Other responsibilities include using power tools, cut-outs and oxyacetylene burning equipment. The selected candidates will erect work platforms and tie all types of knots and splices to ring planks, weld, beams and equipment. Prepares rough field sketches incidental to structural repairs. Read blueprints and structural steel details. Keeps job and other records. May operate motor vehicles in the performance of assigned duties. May be required to work night or weekend shifts. Performs other related duties. Preferred Skills Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form. Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as a Bridge Repairer and Riveter, on outside structural or ornamental ironworker, as a boilermaker, or in a related shipbuilding trade. Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form and have welding license. License Requirements Possession of a Class B Commercial Driver License valid in the State of New York. There may be certain age requirements to obtain this license. Employees must maintain the Class B Commercial Driver License during their employment.
