Biostatistician **Galveston, Texas, United States** Faculty UTMB Health Requisition # 2503353 **Summary:** The biostatistician provides statistical support services to faculty, staff, and students at UTMB. **Responsibilities:** + Collaborates with investigators to identify problems and provide statistical consultation including design of experiments or surveys, analysis of data, interpretation of results and preparation of reports. + Assists client data organization. + Performs statistical computations. + Provides graphical and tabular representations. + Prepares statistical reports which are generally consistent with accepted standards of statistical practice. + Develops, maintains and modifies programs for in-house use. + Performs non-statistical components of consulting such as providing analogous examples and explanations using non-technical terminology, and helping researchers formulate and clarify research issues. + Visits client's work field whenever possible to establish rapport and to become familiar with and interested in client's research and data + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism and competence in dealing with a variety of individuals. + Analyze/evaluate data and make appropriate decisions/recommendations. + Communicate technical information to non-statisticians. + Knowledge of statistical and scientific research design. + Knowledge of data file handling techniques. + Adheres to internal controls established for department. + Performs other duties as assigned. **Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:** + Personal computer. + Proficiency in computing, including knowledge of statistical packages such as SAS, SPSS, R, or SOL. + Problem-solving. + Communication skills. **Minimum Qualifications:** + Masters degree in Biostatistics, Statistics or related field. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Master degree in Biostatistics or Statistics and two years of related experience in Statistics or Biostatistics. **Salary Range:** + Actual salary commensurate with experience. **Equal Employment Opportunity** UTMB Health strives to provide equal opportunity employment without regard to race, color, religion, age, national origin, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, genetic information, disability, veteran status, or any other basis protected by institutional policy or by federal, state or local laws unless such distinction is required by law.
