Biomedical Engineering Tech III

Position Objective:

Performs preventive and corrective maintenance procedures on diagnostic, laboratory, and therapeutic medical equipment throughout the medical center with minimal supervision.

Essential Job Duties:

Under minimal supervision, repairs, calibrates, conducts preventive maintenance, cleans, and safety checks all classes of Biomedical Equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications.Determines when systems should be removed from service and/or salvaged, is allowed to remain in service or must be restored to service according to manufacture and departmental specifications.Maintains records of maintenance, inventory and safety inspection activities in accordance with departmental policies, including comprehensive evaluation and reports of equipment performance.Selects and installs new clinical equipment as necessary. Purchase repair parts and accessories in accordance with departmental procedures.Conducts and prepares for inspections.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

With Vocational Training, 6 Years minimum experience required as a BMET. With AA Degree or military training, 4 Years minimum experience required as a SR BMET.With B.S. Degree, 2 Years minimum experience required as a SR BMET. Must have own vehicle, be willing to use it for work and be reimbursed for mileage.

Required License/Certifications: 

Valid Maryland drivers license and a driving record with no more than two (2) points.
