The Biology Department at Salem State University invites applications for a full-time, temporary position in biomedical sciences to begin September 2026. Our preferred areas of expertise are pathology, immunology, pharmacology, endocrinology, and/or physiology. Teaching responsibilities may also include introductory biology courses for non-majors (e.g., Human and Social Biology, Anatomy and Physiology) and/or upper-level electives currently in our catalog (e.g., Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, General Pathology, Endocrinology, Immunology) or developed by the successful candidate. We seek a colleague interested in taking an active role in the Pre-Health Advising Committee and providing guidance to students pursuing careers in medical sciences. The ideal candidate will have the ability to engage students in research opportunities and/or field experiences.

PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., biomedical sciences) or MD.Experience teaching at the college/university level.Demonstrated experience mentoring undergraduates.Experience with engaging and inclusive pedagogies in lectures, lab, and/or online modalities.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with a diverse student body.Experience teaching both introductory and upper-level courses.A desire to take an active role in supporting and advising students in Pre-Health pathways and/or the Nuclear Medicine Technology concentration.A desire to involve undergraduates in research and inquiry both inside and outside the classroomAs a Hispanic and Minority Serving Institution (HSI/MSI), Salem State University seeks to enrich the faculty/librarian ranks by actively encouraging candidates whose lived experiences align with those of our students and/or whose body of scholarly work addresses issues regarding the welfare and representation of Latino other historically under-served communities in the United States. Candidates who meet these strongly desired qualifications should present documented activities in aligned teaching, scholarship/research, and service, including community-based endeavors.
