**JOB SUMMARY**
To provide the basic technical skills needed in the analysis, maintenance, calibration, installation, and modification of simple medical and research laboratory equipment.
**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**
+ Performs basic analysis and isolation of mechanical or electronic equipment malfunctions.
+ Reads and interprets blueprints, wiring, diagrams, and technical manuals used in conjunction with the repair of research laboratory equipment.
+ Examines equipment for signs of improper operation and evidence of deterioration.
+ Aids in the development of quality control and preventative maintenance.
+ Utilizes mechanical and electronic skills to test, evaluate, calibrate, overhaul, install, modify, and update various types of research laboratory electronic systems.
+ Performs safety checks on research laboratory equipment.
+ Documents work done on all equipment, such as the results of checks, diagnoses, and repairs.
+ Adheres to internal controls established for the department.
+ Performs related duties as required.

Understanding of standard research laboratory equipment
