Billing Clerk
Description We are looking for a dedicated Billing Clerk to join our team in Bloomington, Minnesota, on a long-term contract basis. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the local government sector by ensuring accurate billing and payment tracking processes. If you have strong organizational skills and enjoy working with financial data, this role is a perfect fit. Responsibilities: • Manage the billing inbox to organize and monitor direct deposit notices and updated bills provided by Program Specialists. • Track and follow up on bills sent to other housing authorities, collaborating with Program Specialists as necessary. • Maintain online portal accounts for housing authorities to access direct deposit information efficiently. • Monitor monthly payments made by tenants for each housing authority and ensure proper tracking. • Record monthly payments received from housing authorities for tenants and reconcile balances. • Communicate with housing authorities regarding unpaid balances and initiate payment requests. • Participate in quarterly meetings with internal staff to share updates and discuss billing matters. • Coordinate with the accountant to set up new housing authorities in the city's accounting software. • Prepare and deliver monthly reports detailing the status of receivables and any outstanding balances. • Assist the accountant with end-of-year reviews and financial close-out processes as needed. Requirements • Minimum of 1 year of experience in billing or related financial functions. • Proficiency in managing billing systems and tracking payments. • Strong ability to collect and reconcile payment data accurately. • Familiarity with computerized billing processes and software. • Knowledge of fair housing regulations and government contracts. • Experience working within local or county government is a plus. • Excellent organizational and communication skills. • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external housing authorities.
