Qualifications: + Valid Washington State teaching certificate with library/media endorsement + Ability to perform the full range of teaching duties and responsibilities + Ability to provide in-service training to faculty and staff + Must possess technology skills and leadership to include knowledge of computers and related equipment, software applications, and the effective use of technology + Must possess administrative skills to include budget, purchasing, inventory, etc + Must possess community relations skills and the ability to serve as an ambassador for the building and for education + Must possess interpersonal skills to effectively work with students, parents, faculty, volunteers, and community representatives + Must possess communications skills to include verbal, written (including penmanship), and visual + Must be fully bilingual in Spanish and English in all communication modalities including reading, writing and speaking + Must possess research skills and curriculum knowledge to assist teachers in the identification of materials to support curriculum, and to instruct and assist students in conducting research + Advanced ability to use technology as an effective commuication, planning and instructional tool + Willingness to participate in staff development courses aligned with the school and district initiatives Essential Functions: + Applies a comprehensive knowledge of developments and trends in library media center management issues, media systems, and information resources + Assumes responsibility for the organization, appearance, and visual appeal of the library media center + Schedules and manages the use of media facilities and equipment + Maintains patron and material databases + Develops and maintains effective relations with patrons, volunteers and the community + Supervises and trains library media clerks, volunteers, and student assistants + Selects and oversees the ordering, receiving, processing, cataloging, shelving, storing, maintaining, repairing, circulating, inventorying, and withdrawal of library media resources, materials, and equipment + Assists staff and students in locating and using library resources, materials, and equipment + Develops, reproduces, and distributes bibliographies, guides, “pathfinders,” and other instructional handouts and materials as appropriate and needed + Manages library media center budget and maintains accountability for fixed assets + Facilitates the ordering, distribution, and return of instructional materials to and from the district textbook depository + Helps to develop and implements written policies concerning the selection, screening, and evaluation of materials and equipment including the acceptance of gifts for the library instructional media center + Integrates group and individual instruction to students in the use of media resources and technology with classroom instructional program + Provides guidance and instruction in researching media materials + Provides in-service to teachers in the use of media resources and technology + Participates in team planning and collaborate with faculty in instructional strategies and the creation of instructional materials + Provides instruction in information navigation to teach students how to construct searches, evaluate information, and interpret data + Promotes literacy and literary appreciation + Assists teachers in the selection of instructional materials (print, on-line, text, multimedia, etc.) + Provides copyright compliance leadership + Facilitates an annual building textbook inventory + Personally, or in cooperation with an assigned Systems Manager: + Administers and troubleshoots Lab resources such as Jostens (ES/MS) + Installs, troubleshoots, and maintains software + Assures the proper utilization and maintenance of technology + Ensures building level compliance with district policy and technical standards for desktop computing and networks + Represents the building, along with the systems manager, in technology meetings to coordinate services, select technology, troubleshoot equipment repair and software, etc + Treats co-workers, supervisors, student, parents and others with dignity and respect at all times + Serves as a positive role model for students, and practices the behaviors that are expected of our student + Works in a flexible and cooperative manner + Maintains regular and punctual attendance and hours of operation as set by the assigned building/location and the Comprehensive Professional Agreement to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements + Performs such other duties, task and responsibilities as assigned by the building principal or district office + Provides leadership in achieving the building and district technology vision by: + Promoting the identification, acquisition and implementation of technology + Instructing building staff and students in the use of technology and software applications + Managing and coordinating distance learning within the building + Assisting faculty in the integration of technology into curriculum material + Manages the use of cable TV and videotaping within the building (ES/MS) + Personally, or in cooperation with an assigned Systems Manager: + Administers and troubleshoots Lab resources such as Jostens (ES/MS) + Installs, troubleshoots, and maintains software + Assures the proper utilization and maintenance of technology + Ensures building level compliance with district policy and technical standards for etc + Actively engage students in using technology in individual and collaborative learning activities + Treats co-workers, supervisors, student, parents and others with dignity and respect at all requirements + Other duties as assigned SOC Code: Benefits/Compensation: + Salary range: $62,925 - $118,608 (includes Base & TRI enrichment; commensurate upon FTE, degree, credits and experience).
