Bilingual Phlebotomist II
Job Title: Phlebotomist II

Job Description

The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various duties, troubleshooting issues, and providing training while making workflow recommendations.

ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.Decontaminate work areas and update patient information.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collections, such as urine or fecal, as required.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Understand and follow physicians' orders accurately.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department training sessions.Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results as needed.Essential SkillsValid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.High School Diploma or GED.2-4 years of experience in the field.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with blood and pediatric draws.Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.Strong customer service skills.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
