We are currently recruiting a highly skilled and motivated Bid Manager to join us in Siemens Mobility – Rolling Stock Customer Services in London. The Bids and Tendering function are a centralised bidding team that is responsible for the delivery of all bids and tenders (and associated pre-qualification submissions) for Siemens Rolling Stock and Customer Services business in the UK and Ireland.

The Bid Manager will lead complex maintenance and modifications bids and tenders within the sales team and provide leadership across all required fields across the wider organisation to ensure delivery of high quality, compelling, winning bids and ensuring they are effectively mobilised for project execution.

You’ll make a difference by

Supporting the management of the Bids & Tendering function within the sales team and within a matrix organisation Defining, developing and implementing winning bid strategies around customer evaluation criteria to improve commercial performance and deliverability, whilst minimising risk to the overall business and providing direction and leadership to the bid team. Preparing, reviewing and coordinating compelling tender documentation ensuring high levels of consistency and quality, that adequately captures our offer, leverages the Siemens portfolio, provides an accurate baseline for a future project – all delivered in good time to meet bid timescales Delivering proposals in strict accordance with Siemens Mobility’s internal governance framework Supporting the systematic and continuous approach (alongside the Sales function) to the market, relevant industry stakeholders and the competition with the objective of identifying customer/stakeholder requirements and analysis of competitive position to articulate into a successful bid submission Developing, managing and coordinating strong relationships internally (Siemens Mobility limited, Siemens Mobility GmbH etc.) and with customers to provide a stable foundation for future business opportunities and collaboration, influence proposals, pricing and collaboration in bid approach / format, which are all vital to achieve bidding strategies and explore avenues for mutual benefit. Supporting the departmental development and continually reviewing current practice in the sales team regarding quality control and assurance, information storage and retention, distribution and dissemination of information and standardisation of approach across the delivery of bids and tenders and lead the implementation of improvements to ensure the approach to delivering projects is consistent, clear and efficient.

Your success will be grounded by

Being proactive with the ability to work under pressure through leading, motivating, directing high performing teams in a pressured and high-volume environment to a shared goal. Excellent understanding of Rolling Stock and the UK Rail Industry as well as how projects are handled and delivered in order to influence, monitor and challenge every aspect of the bid i.e. project management, finance, engineering, planning, delivery and commercial inputs. Proven strength in operating within matrix organisations and partnering with Sales and Business Development to drive cohesive business strategies in complex, overlapping environments. Excellent communication skills both oral and written, with a strong attention to detail, and proficiency in writing, reviewing, and editing compelling and winning proposals. Ability to manage the delivery of multiple proposals through corporate governance procedures, including parallel approval workstreams (e.g. financial, technical, commercial etc.). Experience in bid/project/commercial management from an engineering project-based business, in a regulated industry, with experience leading bids/projects in excess of £500m. Strong customer focus and the ability to influence and negotiate with people at all levels within Siemens Rolling Stock and Mobility customer organisations, whilst fostering strong working relationships (up to board level).
