Consult and Liaison service is a collegial, academically minded, innovative team consisting of psychiatry and nursing serving as liaisons between medical and mental health. This consult-liaison job is at Shadyside Hospital. Our team completes the behavioral health evaluations and follow-ups on the medical units at Shadyside Hospital, helps with resource connection (including facilitation to inpatient psychiatric treatment) as needed, collaborates with outpatient providers—all under the direction of a top-notch supervising consult and liaison psychiatrist. Clinicians use recovery-oriented, strength-based approaches for positive outcomes in the hospital and with continuity of care when transitioning back to the community.  We have team longevity with expertise recognized by multiple publications, service awards, and patient accolades

Responsibilities:

Psychiatric Care

Demonstrates advanced psychiatric knowledge. Monitors psychiatric and medical status. Provides education on psychiatric medication/diagnosis. Participates in multidisciplinary team activities. Coordinates care and discharge/transfer. Reviews medical history and symptoms. Assesses medication side effects.
