Benefits Specialist
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Benefits Specialist to oversee and manage employee benefits programs in Des Moines, Iowa. This role involves ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations while providing employees with clear guidance on their available options. By administering health insurance, retirement plans, leave policies, and other benefit offerings, you will play a crucial role in enhancing employee satisfaction and retention. Responsibilities: • Administer employee benefits programs, including new enrollment processes, termination procedures, annual open enrollment, and claims resolution. • Manage and coordinate leave programs such as FMLA, Workers' Compensation, and other types of absences. • Maintain accurate employee benefit records and ensure timely updates as needed. • Respond promptly to employee inquiries regarding eligibility, coverage, and benefits policies. • Provide guidance and support for disability, life insurance, retirement plans, and other benefit-related processes. • Collaborate with the HR team to communicate benefit changes and promote employee health and wellness initiatives. • Audit payroll systems for weekly benefit deductions and ensure compliance with reporting requirements. • Oversee the administration of 401(k) plans, including auto-enrollment, contribution changes, and compliance with regulations. • Ensure timely submission of benefit contributions and vendor payments. • Stay updated on state and federal regulations impacting benefits administration to maintain compliance. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. • Minimum of 3 years of experience in benefits administration, HR, or a related area. • Solid understanding of benefits laws and regulations, including FMLA, COBRA, and Workers' Compensation. • Proficiency in using benefits administration systems such as Paylocity, Bswift, or similar platforms. • Experience in a construction or similar industry is preferred. • Bilingual abilities are advantageous. • Strong organizational and communication skills with an ability to handle sensitive employee concerns. • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
