Role/Department: NA Benefits Manager/Benefits (Total Rewards)
The North America Benefits Manager is responsible for the, planning, design, financial management, communication and administration of our regional benefit and well-being programs and plans. Leads a highly effective team to deliver modern and effective programs. Participates in developing the strategic plan, short term and long term costs of the programs. Reports to the Global Head of Benefits.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
• Manages the Benefit function area. Conducts the performance management process, identifies training and development needs, and establishes performance standards for the team.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates all benefits and well-being programs in the region.
• Reviews current legislation and recommends appropriate benefit plan changes and improvements to senior management and ensures that benefit plans are in compliance with current legislated requirements in conjunction with our legal team.
• Leads the communication strategy and planning for regional partnering with the communication and learning and development team.
• Responsible for the development and implementation of cost effective benefit policies and programs designed to accomplish corporate business objectives.
• Participates in developing the business unit strategic plan and sets goals and priorities based on the direction set for the unit. Follows through to ensure that objectives are met.
• Develops unit(s) budget and manages the expenses for the unit.
• Determines staffing needs, makes hiring and firing decisions, and ensures resources are available to accomplish priorities.
• Provides leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment that encourages employee participation, teamwork, and communication.
• Accountable for performance management process and staffing for the unit.
• Oversees complex benefit design, change project plans.
• Serves as an expert resource or go to person within a group.
• Manages extensive, high-profile work.
• Leads and support global benefits/well-being initiatives.
Skills/ Qualifications:
• Demonstrated, progressive benefit experience including designing and leading the strategy for a large national organization including wellbeing, paid time off and leaves, health and welfare as well as retirement plans (DC and DB).
• Demonstrated progressively complex experience leading through a team the design of benefit programs, measuring effectiveness and governance.
• Experience managing complex vendor relationships including RFPs, RFIs, working through scorecards, root cause analyses, etc.
• Management experience of senior subject matter experts.
• Excellent planning, project management, and communication skills including persuasion, education and transfer of knowledge.
Working Model: Hybrid (#LI-Hybrid)

Salary Range:
$137,400 - 240,400 USDSalary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
