**Job Overview**
We are seeking a knowledgeable and client-focused Benefits Captive Consultant with expertise in stop-loss insurance to support the design, implementation, and management of employee benefits captives. This role involves advising employers and brokers on alternative risk financing strategies, optimizing stop-loss arrangements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and operational standards.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Advise employers and benefits brokers on the feasibility, structure, and implementation of stop-loss captives for self-funded employee health plans.
+ Conduct financial modeling and risk analysis to evaluate the potential cost savings and risk mitigation benefits of captive participation.
+ Collaborate with actuaries, underwriters, and legal advisors to maintain effective stop-loss layers and reinsurance arrangements.
+ Monitor captive performance, analyze claims trends, and provide strategic recommendations to optimize funding and retention strategies.
+ Facilitate ongoing client education and engagement, including board presentations, annual reviews, and strategic planning sessions.
+ Stay current on healthcare trends, regulatory developments (e.g., ERISA, ACA), and innovations in the stop-loss and benefits captive space.
+ Support group captive programs by managing member selection, onboarding, renewals, and communication between stakeholders.
**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, or a related field (advanced degree or CEBS/ARM designation preferred).
+ 5+ years of experience in employee benefits, stop-loss insurance, or captive consulting.
+ Deep understanding of self-funded health plans, stop-loss structures, and group captive models.
+ Strong analytical, communication, and client relationship management skills.
+ Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders in a fast-paced, consultative environment.
+ Familiarity with healthcare cost containment strategies and third-party administrator (TPA) coordination.
+ Proficiency in Excel-based modeling and insurance analytics platforms.
