Provides information and refers individuals and families to programs and resources, including self-sufficiency and/or self-responsibility, and ensures safety and protection. Human Resource Contact: Michelle Johnson /michelle.johnson@wyo.gov ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level. + Provides support for economic assistance programs, which may include TANF, child support, Medicaid, food stamps, etc. + Determines eligibility for programs to assist individuals and families who meet the various income and asset guidelines within each of the programs. + Provides benefits timely and accurately while collaborating with other state and community partners for the health and safety of the public. + Assists with audits to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements. + Maintains computer databases and enters information. + Conducts client interviews to determine eligibility. + Maintains cases once approved. + Maintains public relations with community referral agencies and others. + Recognizes and provides intervention services for people in crisis. + Trains new employees. + Assists with hearings through written or verbal testimony or exhibits. Qualifications KNOWLEDGE: + Knowledge of effective interviewing techniques, including attitudes, behaviors, and value judgments that affect the worker-client relationship. + Knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and manuals. + Knowledge of community and governmental resources and programs, and how to access them. + Knowledge of agency computer systems and their application. + Knowledge of general office procedures. + Knowledge of state and federal criminal justice processes. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Associate's Degree Experience: 0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Benefits and Eligibility) OR Education & Experience Substitution: 2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Benefits and Eligibility) Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None Necessary Special Requirements PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: + Typically, the employee will sit comfortably to perform the work; however, they may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items.
