About the role
This position reports to the Project Controls Verification and Benchmarking (V&B) Discipline Lead. The role involves being the focal point for standardized collection & validation of project data throughout a project's lifecycle to maintain an effective corporate memory. You will collaborate with others in the V&B team to develop data-driven cost and schedule benchmarking reports for project leadership teams. Additionally, the role includes participating in the development, implementation, and operation of our project benchmarking system.
What you will deliver
Data Collection and Analysis – Gather data using various methodologies, including assisting project delivery teams in the efficient collection and validation of cost, schedule, and technical data for input into both internal and external benchmarking databases.
Reporting – Prepare reports, presentations, and dashboards to communicate benchmarking results to stakeholders and provide actionable recommendations.
Support project teams in preparing for internal and external verification reviews.
Utilize benchmarking data to aid in the development of cost estimates and schedules during the initial stages of the project.
Participate in project and functional meetings and workshops as requested.
Document and proactively share lessons learned across projects.
Aid in the development of benchmarking procedures and guidelines.
Assist in enhancing benchmarking capability within the Project Controls community.
Support digital initiatives to enable standardized, efficient, and timely performance reporting.
Must have educational qualifications:
Preferred education/certifications:
Engineering, Project Management, technical or equivalent degree
Minimum years of relevant experience:
4+ years in project controls or project performance management roles.
Total years of experience:
8+ years
Must have experiences/skills (To be hired with):
Good level of understanding of the principals of benchmarking and why it is important.
Knowledge of how major project cost estimates are developed and presented
Excellent working relationships and management of key project leadership stakeholders
Solid, broad-based project or business experience with an excellent track record of delivery
Ability to harness use of digital tools to provide high quality benchmarking reporting
Analytical skills with experience in Microsoft Suite of tools including PowerBi, and ability to adapt quickly to new ‘digital’ technologies
Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise, experience of agile ways of working
Self-motivation and a high level of individual initiative and self-reliance are required.
Ability to communicate and influence across different levels in the organization.
Bias for simplification and efficiency with focus on fit-for-purpose deliverables that meet the needs of the business.
Strong ability to build partnerships, actively engage and respect contributions of others.
Excellent inter-personal skills and behaviours
Good to have experiences/skills (Can be trained for – learning/on-the-job):
Upstream oil and gas industry experience
Use of statistical methods to analyze data
Previous experience in data structures or data management
Experience of working with data based software packages
