Job Title: Behavioral Health Technician Trainer

Job Summary:
The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) Trainer serves as a preceptor for technician staff, providing training, coaching, mentoring, monitoring of job competencies and performance, and providing subsequent feedback to employees and supervisors on employee job performance and progress. The position does not directly supervise technician staff but may give technician staff specific directions regarding the performance of their roles, which must be followed.
Key Responsibilities:
Communicates clearly with staff and clients.
Conducts on-the-job training of technician staff.
Monitors the job performance of technician staff and the demonstration of job competencies.
Provides immediate coaching and correction to technicians on the performance of job duties, while on-the-job.
Reviews applicable procedures with technicians on-the-job.
Provides mentoring and explanation of procedures and job duties to staff.
Provides verbal and written feedback to staff and their supervisor regarding staff job performance and competency.
Accurately responds to questions from staff during the training process.
Demonstrates knowledge of resident behavior management techniques.
Complies with all agency policies and procedures.
Ensures client and staff safety at all times and intervenes in any situation in which there is a risk to client and staff safety.
Documents appropriately using agency approved forms, including the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.
Responds to medical emergencies by administering basic first aid or by obtaining assistance from medical personnel.
Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of the job.
Immediately reports to supervisory staff any situation which may indicate an immediate threat to the physical or psychological well-being of residents or staff.
Other duties as assigned by program leadership.
Experience and Education Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.
A minimum of one (1) year experience as a Technician or
equivalent job.
