Job Title: Behavioral Health Technician I 

Location: Kirksville, MO

Department: Adult Housing

Employment Type: Full Time, 40 hrs per week 

 

 

 

Job Summary: 
Join our dedicated and supportive team as a Behavioral Health Technician I, where you will provide direct and supportive care to clients/patients in a compassionate environment. In this role, you will oversee daily activities, monitor health, manage crisis situations, and facilitate group education and structured activities. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that clients receive the necessary care while contributing to their recovery journey.

Key Responsibilities: 

Provide general oversight and support to clients/patients in daily activities. 

Monitor vital signs and respond to health emergencies, escalating situations as necessary. 

Document and maintain accurate records for medications, behaviors, and treatment progress. 

Facilitate client/patient transport as needed and adhere to medication policies. 

Educate and encourage clients to participate in program expectations in a trauma-informed manner. 

Collaborate actively with the treatment team to identify client strengths and needs. 

Assist with admission, orientation processes, and report any behavior concerns promptly. 

Conduct drug testing and maintain communication with the treatment team. 

Prepare and facilitate group rehabilitative support and education as scheduled. 

Ensure a safe and clean environment while following organization policies and procedures. 

 

 

Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications: 

High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of responsible employment in Human Services or a related field preferred. 

For St. Louis County Programs: Bachelor's Degree, OR MAADC I or II. 

For Residential Care Facility (RCF): Must be credentialed as a Level 1 Med Aid (LIMA) and be Insulin Certified within the first ninety (90) days in position. 

 

 

Additional Qualifications: 

Successful completion of background checks, including criminal record, driving records, and abuse/neglect checks. 

Current driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and current auto insurance. 

Must complete mandatory training including First Aid and CPR certifications within the specified time frames. 

 

 

Physical Requirements: 

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, or pull objects. 

Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing during work shifts. 

Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
